Preparation Instructions
Toss popcorn with melted butter and salt.
Add milk and cream to a medium saucepan until warm but not boiling.
Pour the mixture over popcorn and steep for 30 minutes.
Strain and discard popcorn.
Simmer the mixture on the pan again.
Whisk egg yolks and sugar separately until smooth.
Temper egg yolk mixture with a few tablespoons of milk mixture.
Add egg mixture into the milk mixture.
Stir until 170F.
Strain into a metal bowl on top of an ice bath and whisk until cooled.
Freeze and add to an ice cream maker to make ice cream.
