In a mixing glass packed with ice, stir the bourbon, cognac, rich demerara syrup, and orange-coffee bitters until well chilled.

Take the snifter off the board, add a fresh ice sphere, and strain the stirred mixture over that ice.

Express oil from a wide orange peel across the drink, twist the peel, and drop it in, then dust the top with edible gold.
